Sprint Nextel has announced it will become the second major carrier in the US to release an Android-based smartphone, with its release of the HTC Hero on October 11th. The HTC Hero is a touchscreen phone with no QWERTY keypad, and will be very similar to the T-Mobile myTouch 3G which launched a few weeks ago. These are not the correct pictures for the Sprint version of the Hero. You can see the actual photos here: Sprint Hero

correct, and the verizon phone to be released has a lot of evidence that it will be the sholes in october.

Hero is different than the mytouch in that it uses the sense ui. The mytouch in the US will not have the sense ui update.

Good post, I will update the pictures. TBH I like the "chin" version better then the new rounded one, I might be the only one tho.

Awww... man! Was really hoping AT&t/cingular would get this phone. I wonder what Android phone they will be getting this fall. I really dont want the Iphone but if all else fails.. Well

Don't worry! Android is going to slowly take over the smart phone market. By this time next year all carriers will have multiple Android phones, even if its not the Hero.
