T-Mobile to kill @Home service?

article published on 14 December, 2009

According to sources speaking to BoyGeniusReport, T-Mobile is considering dropping its HotSpot@Home service, due to its lack of profitability. For $10 a month, @Home users could create a local network for their phone, thus eliminating the need for a landline that may cost more money. Good. The @Home service was a joke. They didn't entice anyone to buy the service. You had to a special handset, buy an extra service, and some cases, even a special router.

I have a similar product from Sprint. It is called Airave. For $5 a month I get a mini-cell tower in my house. No more dropped calls or sitting in that one spot that gets good service. It still uses my minutes, but you get so many now-a-days it doesn't matter. Though for an extra $10 a month you can get unlimited minutes when connected to the airave. Plus it works with any phone.

See thats freakin smart of sprint. To be able to use it with any cell phone sprint offers is a great idea. This is what Tmo SHOULD have done.

Not sure which service you're talking about, but @home is T-Mobile's VOIP service. I've been using it for a year now. No special headset needed. Just plugged it into my wall jack and it energized all the wall jacks in the house. They provided the router. Able to have two phone numbers on one router. With the exception of some issues with the router that seem to have been resolved with the latest firmware, it's been a good service. Paying $20 a month for two lines. Can't beat that.
