Xbox 360 price cut in Asia coming tomorrow?

According to a report from Network World, the Xbox 360 Elite price cut that has hit the US and Europe could be hitting Asian nations tomorrow, as Microsoft has announced a press conference in Japan.
The conference was confirmed by Microsoft Hong Kong spokesperson Julie Leong. The price cut will slash the price of the 120 GB Elite model to about $305 USD in Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.

There has been some very good news for Xbox recently.
First reports show sales up in the UK by a large amount -
?Xbox 360 Sales Nearly Up By Half In UK

The Xbox 360 seems to have taken an early lead if MCV is to be believed. Chartrack, the organisation that monitors sales of music, videos and software through retail in the UK and Ireland, told MCV that that sales of the Xbox 360 Elite increased by 43 percent week-on-week.?

Then there is the news from the warranty company Squaretrade showing that the Xbox Jasper failrate now @ 1%.
It remains to be seen how that compares with the PS3 slim but according to the numbers here Jasper Xbox is actually 10 times more reliable than PS3.
Who'd a thunk that!?

i wouldnt say 500 units is a big sample, if they were off one good batch aswell....
the slim has a 45nm tech for the CPU, so a lower TDP and so they shoudl have a lower rate aswell. i know most 60GBs are goin to get a YLOD but the 80GB and newer shouldnt have that many.

It should also be remembered that the PS3 failure rate includes the original models that ran super-hot and had very crummy BD drives. The newer PS3 units are far more reliable than the old ones. If you are going to seperate the new 360 from the old ones, then you must also seperate the new PS3 units from the old ones.
Also, just because there are fewer RROD, this does not mean that 99% of the units have been problem free. There are lots of failures that do not cause a RROD. Also, this is a third party warantee company...failures that occur before the Microsoft warantee is expired are rarely reported to companies like Squaretrade...and the sample they are refering to are mostly still under warantee. I suspect the actual number of new units with problems is much higher than 1%.

The comment about PS3 slim is fair.....but we have no data for that yetand it has only (barely) gone on sale so the data is valid for the machines out there.
The Xbox is different.
The Jasper has been out since Dec 2008/Jan 2009.
Falcon since Sept/Oct 2007.
It is perfectly fair seperate & to point to the later units data, (seeing as they are now the only units on sale) which does indeed show a marked improvement over the early units.

It may be that as time goes by those numbers change, or they may not.
What we do have is the data as it is and from a trustworthy source.
Insurance companies live on accuracy.
Without an accurate set of numbers they cannot calculate risk & cover properly and therefore stand to either make big losses or get sued silly.
If you read the PDF this is not solely about RROD either.

If MS was smart they would have done this in Asia first targeting the better nations with a extra 50$ price drop.
