It may mean you applied too much NR, or the algorithm used by Goldwave is not suited to
your material.

The algorithm is the procedure (really a kind of mathematical formula)
used by Goldwave to implement the NR.
Have you tried Audacity? It's another free editor also has some built in NR.
Or if you want to spend some $$$ this may be helpful.

I wouldn't consider the $499 version, but whether you want to spend the $90
and whether it's a good investment depends on how much you have to do
and how important the results are to you.
I have Audacity installed - it's been while since I ran Goldwave.
I also have Sony Sound Forge 8 and Sony's NR suite.
Why don't you post 10 seconds or so of your captured WAV, and 10 seconds of
your NR processed file. Perhaps myself or others could recommend something more
specific?

You don't have to do it here. Better to use an external file host site,
like mediafire.com - anybody can post there, any kind of file.
Upload it, get the link, and put the link in here.

Well the product is free - not to say free means bad... often freeware is better than
anything else. But this kind of programming and the audio theory required
is somewhat specialist knowledge. So not surprised it's only basic.
As I said earlier, if you want good quality, and the outcome is important to you,
you may need to spend some $$$.
Bias Soundsoap has a free trial. Did you try the cakewalk product ?
