Computer freezing while watching full screen videos

Hi all,

So this has been going on for quite some time now. Whenever I watch a video on full screen on my laptop, online streaming (youtube, yahoo, google, veoh, etc.) and sometimes from file on my computer, my screen goes completely black and the computer freezes up. I really don't know what the problem is. I thought it was my computer overheating but because I now have a coolant pad, the temperature has been normal.

What do you think is the problem and how can I fix it?
