Media Player Classic choppy at times

I've been using Media Player Classic for awhile with no problems. Lately though, when I move the slider ahead to check out the playback, the video will momentarily freeze after I move it then jump quickly but then the movement of the video is normal again. It may have been like this for some time, but I've never noticed it, but actually I think this is something new. I reinstalled it over the old install and it still does it. When doing the same thing in WMP it does not do it. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I am using the x32 version of MPC. I initially tried the x64 version but ran into a few problems
