So my computer can't handle a few effects on the timeline, that would be fine if I could just render them like in every other "Pro" video software. But I can't find that feature. What I wan't is something similar to what Premiere has, you simply hit enter, and it renders everything in the selected area, and the next time you play that area, it'll play like the final output should from a media player, no stuttering. Avid has this in a menu, you click ok in one popup and there you have it.
Now, Vegas has a prerender feature, but that's different, and it's clumsy. It's basically the same as Render As, you just don't have to name the file it creates. And if you want the rendered clip to match your project settings and source media properties, you have to set them all manually, just like Render As. Also if you change even a fraction of a second of media from the region, the whole render is useless, unlike in Premiere for example where you can just hit enter again and it only needs to render what was changed.
Vegas seems to render automatically though, or maybe it's just RAM adjusting to repetitive data usage (I don't know if it actually works like that?), but I had to loop a ten second clip about eight times to finally get smooth playback.
This is just a pain, and because of this, I can't enjoy editing with Vegas like I used to with Avid and Premiere. So am I missing something, any help?
