I had a question as to which software would best help my situation.. I have videos on my PC ripped from DVDr that I ripped from VHS tapes..unfortunately, the vhs tapes were recorded from tv without great sounds quality. . So my question is what software would be appropriate to re encode the original video with better sounding audio ? An example would be lets say an old video of a band with a better audio source of the same group and song ? I have
Gateway - Desktop with AMD Phenom II Quad-Core Processor
Model: DX4300-15e , I used a panasonic DMR-EA18K .. and also using DVD decrypter to rip the DVDr's ...one last question is how to tag the videos ..to let people know who ripped the video ..thank you in advance.

what do you have it ripped as? if its avi you can just run it through virtual dub and replace the audio, leaving the video as a direct stream copy. make sure its synced with the video though. you might need to add or remove silence from the audio with an audio editor to accomplish this.

some programs allow mpeg2 direct stream copies as well, like some of the big name movie editing software.

Well the files are one big VOB file ripped from a DVDr... I know how to "slice up " the file using maybe ultra video splitter but was unsure how to sync the files to mp3s..there basically old rock videos I had recorded long ago and had low audio. Thanx I will look into Virtualdub,

If you want to use VirtualDub, you'll need the mpeg2 plugin to open VOBs:

Are you going to convert to a different format eventually(like AVI or MKV...)?
If you do, I think it will be easier to sync the video/audio after conversion, more tools available that could do the job.

For something like this I would use a program like womble mpeg video wizard dvd 4.0.

It has a timeline editer where you place the video track, and right below it is where you can add a second audio track. To only just use the second audio track disable the audio on the video track. It also has a title box, where you can add words to your video.

Well I was going to use ultra video splitter, but its not user friendly when trying to stop exactly where you want to split the file..I also looked into IMToo video splitter but same issue..any recommendations? I use to use Dazzle but hell that's so old now lol..I will convert files first than try to sync audio to video .

Avidemux is frame precise when trying to split the video.
