Attempting to use avi2dvd v0.6.1 on a Windows7 machine to convert an MP4 PAL movie to record to a dvd. The movie is in 16x9 format and plays fine in VLC in widescreen format. When the file is opened in avi2dvd, it shows the resolution at 1280x720. I leave the input setting at 16x9 and also choose 16x9 in the output section. I created a simple menu to display the title screen and with two subtitles buttons (off and English) and a play button. I do not choose to convert from PAL to NTSC.

Everything appears to run correctly, but the encoded_video.mpg files created in the temp directory are 4x3 and the DVD plays on the computer in 4x3 also. They appear to be stretched taller so people are tall and skinny.

Is there something that I am doing wrong or is there something else that needs to be done to have the 16x9 movie encoded in 16x9 format? Another note is that the popup helps on the input aspect ratio state that avi2dvd calculates the correct A/R so don't change this option, but if I load a different movie that is 4x3, it still has the 16x9 button selected.

If you drag a .VOB file into VLC (prevents it getting the information from the .IFO file) is the AR wrong - if you change the AR in VLC does it correct it?

Thanks for the response. First off, I am converting an MP4 video, not a DVD so there are no VOB or IFO files until after the conversion. I am selecting the MP4 file using the load button on the "Step 1 Input" tab.

No, manually changing the input and output to 4x3 and then back to 16x9 and then creating the video does not correct it. The end video is still a stretched out 4x3.
