AVI to DVD burning

Hey,
I have recently tried to convert my downloaded AVI files to DVD files, so I can burn them to a dvd disk. However, the converted file ends up becoming very poor in quality. I have been using winAVI converter, are there any better converters that will reduce the loss in quality?

FAVC using the HC encoder gives good results.

It will if you set the option.
It uses ImgBurn which is part of the package.
