I have captured video using MYHD card. It creates a ts HD-video file. I have used a program that converts it to a mpg file but I could not get media player to play it. I guess I am missing a codecs but not sure which one I need. I am use to using vob files. Is there a program that will convert it to a vob file so I can put it on a dvd. Like to get the Olympics and save on DVD.

VLC plays .ts and .mpg

Some OTA streams contain sub-channels with different content.

You can select the required channel using 'Playback' > 'Program'

DVD Flick will accept a .ts file and output DVD compliant files.

HDTV2MPEG2 can be used to select a sub channel from a .ts stream and output another .ts stream or an mpeg2 file.

I find that using the mpeg2 file as input for FAVC, produces good DVD compliant files that FAVC will optionally burn to disk.

for converting video you capture on a tuner card, you need something like videoredotvsuite. That handles most of the files captured by tuner pvr cards. It will even output to DVD.

As far as playing mpeg files on your computer, VLC or gomplayer have most of the codecs to play almost any file available.

thanks for you help. I am using the program HDTV2MPEG2 but I will need to play with it some more to get the hang of it. I can play my captured files using MYHD card but I want to convert the (ts) files to some other format so I can put the on DVD. I'll have to play with it some more and see what I can do.

HDTV2MPEG2 optionally outputs the video as MPEG2.
A program like DVD Flick or FAVC can use the output to produce a DVD.
