I have several hours of Hi8 video captured by AverTVCardbus at 720x480. The video plays fine in Media Player Classic and in older versions of Windows Media Player. In the latest windows media player (11) the video is "squashed" vertically to just a sliver of unrecognizable video. The audio is fine. I downloaded K-lite video codec pack but I wonder if WMP is using the right codec? Any thoughts? Thanks!

On the right hand side of the media player,
click on the file name when it is playing.
Select properties and it will show you the
filters in use.

Thank you. Is this what you mean?

This is from the properties in Media Player Classic. I am not sure what setting is different in WMP (and Nero Show) that is causing the severe artifact.

Oh, and I feel like an idiot here it is WMP 12 bundled with Windows 7 that is showing the distorted video. (as does Nero Showtime). I wonder if they use the same codec and Media Player Classic uses another. I saw a post somewhere that said Windows 7 may be blocking some 3rd party codecs....

This is waht I meant. Right click the filenmame,
as can be seen top right, select properties and you'l see the filters in use:

Not using Windows 7, can't comment, except to say I have heard of
issues with the 64-bit version.
