I have winavi 8.0. When I try to convert my avi, that has a 25fps, to a mpeg with a 29.97fps, it always come out the same.
The fps have not been changed.
I went to "DSHOW Decoder-decoder adjust" and changed the fps from auto to 29.97.
When the mpeg was done, it's fps was still 25fps.
Can anyone tell me how I can get my avi converted to a mpeg with a fps of 29.97?
I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you

What are you using to determine the before and after FPS?

Before,... I can check it by using "GSpot" and after,... I can use the same.
Or, as I usually do, I use TMPGE DVD Author to create a dvd with a menu. If the MPG file is not 29.97, it will tell me so.
Thank you for answering.

I think again the clue is in the program name.. it contains "win" .. a sure sign of crapware.

how about this instead? http://www.am-soft.ru/avifrate.html

(has MrTazUK had a change?.. no, hold on.. he knows how to do stuff with avi's)

Well rather than convert to 29.97 you want to use an app that will apply Pulldown to the 25fps source. Does WinAVI have a 'pulldown' option? Are you set for NTSC? Try converting to DVD (choose NTSC) and check the resultant VOB. If it's correct try changing the extension to mpg.

You could also try AVStoDVD (free) for your conversions. It does apply Pulldown and you can output as DVD, elementary streams or muxed MPG.

Winavi does not have pulldown as far as I know.

Also, whoever said to use avi frame rate (avifrate), I downloaded it and it will not open. I downloaded it from the site you had listed.
I still need help with the winavi, if possible.
I even e-mailed winavi support and they don't know what to do.
winavi gives you a choice. It is set to auto, but can be changed to 29.97. But when the video is done, the frame rate has not changed.
Can anyone ehlp?

A second vote for AVStoDVD.

If you're trying to create DVD mpeg, use it with the 2-pass
HCenc, and it takes care of the frame rate issues automatically.
