Hi everyone,
Here's the thing: In order to convert mkv files to avi files, I convert the mkv file to DVD- using The FilmMachine, then I convert the DVD file to avi- using AutoGK. The result is an avi file with good quality.
As you can see, this is a long process of convertinga single file, which takes about 3 hours. But if I wanna convert several mkv files it'll take me more than a week.
So I'm looking for a handy software that converts multiple mkv files to avi, in a shorter period.

I installed this software. It has a problem with the audio codec, when I play the generated file on my DVD Player, it plays without sound, and also GSpot didn't recognize it.
So, is there something specific I should do to get over this problem, or what?
P.S I tried couple of softwares: AVI To MKV Converter and River Past Converter, and both couldn't help me.

Perhaps mediacoder can help it's freeware tho i'm not sure what the learning curve is like for the software & the only annoying thing it does is open it's home page in a browser when you start the program, however it can be disabled from doing so by ticking the box in the web page never to open, relax it's not a phone home thing or spyware..lol.. There's also k-lite video conversion pack

I've also used some of the free software but most won't convert all mkv files.
The only software that has worked for me is "EffectMatrix total video converter", this converts most mkv's with no problems. The only problem is the output files can sometimes be quite large (over 1gb), but the quality is very good.
You can also batch convert with this program.

Seems like my problem has been resolved, thanks to you.
The K-Lite video convertion did a good job, but the MediaCoder didn't work, and my antivirus notified me that it contains a virus.
The Total Video Converter was pretty good also, despite it's limited.
Thanks again !

Sweet as.
As for mediacoder your antivirus reported what's known as a false positive,it happens sometimes when security apps detect viruses that aren't actually there.
