Dvd burner problems with the Solid Avi

My solid avi program is having problems. When it gets to the point where it starts burning it will get only part way done and then stops and gives me an error. Either hardware 9216 or unknown error. It will give suggestions such as decrease speed, update burners etc. What is the problem? Can anyone help me? I'm wasting to many dvds not completeing the burn. Thanks
