Hello, I am looking to backup all of my DVD's to .Avi on my 2TB hard drive so I can just play them directly from the hard drive without needing the DVD.
However, many or almost all of em the sound is not totally on with the video.. the words are just BARELY off from the mouths..
I have Windows XP, I am using AnyDVD ripper, shrinking them with DVD Shrink, and converting with AutoGK. I have been trying to figure out what I am doing wrong.. for the most part the sound is pretty dead on but words are just barely off from the mouths.. not even a second off lips.. prob. not even a half a second but it gets annoying that its just barely off. I put the movie into Virtual Dub and put a delay on one of my movies but it took forever to get it just right.. I was wondering if I am skipping a step or something?? on AutoGK I am making the DVD's Custom Sizes that are large comparable to the auto GK directions.
My Settings are as follows for AutoGK
Resolution: Auto Width
Output Audio Type: I have been putting VBR, MP3, 320KBS
(Should I be leaving this as Auto or maybe even Original (AC3/DTS/MPA only?) The complete AVI's I have been putting back into Virtual Dub have been giving me errors. I have not changed any of the hidden settings on AutoGK pushing Ctrl+F9. Am I just being too picky tryin to get the audio perfect with the lips??? Is it not possible? or is there any easier way or program than tryin to manually set the delay on a movie to the MS in Virtual Dub? Some reason I feel like im missing a step or doing something wrong. Thanks in advance!
Oh I forgot to mention after completion of converting to .AVI I put the movies back into Virtual Dub and I get this error at the beginning
[!] AVI: Variable bitrate (VBR) audio detected. VBR audio in AVI is
non-standard and you may encounter sync errors up to 27731ms when
attempting to extract WAV files or playing in some players. If this is a
problem, use Full Processing mode is recommended to decompress or
recompress the audio. (This warning can be disabled in Options,
Preferences, AVI. bitrate: 317.7 ± 22.1 kbps)
VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI File (audio stream 1)
The current preference is to rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 27731ms skew from the video stream. If this is unaccepter, decompress the *entire* audio and stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder (bitrate:317.7 22.1kbps)
Do still want to rewrite the header? I select NO and then I open up the AVI. I go to streams then stream list and Save WAV. After doing so I think thats where I get lost to what the next step is????
Is the reason they are coming out of AutoGK just slightly with video/audio sync'ing because im missing a codec maybe?? I have t
Use fairuse wizard instead to do your avi conversions. In 3 years that I've been using fairuse it has never produce an audiosync problem for me. Before I also encountered audiosync problems with other converters.
Fairuse has a special feature where it builds a "file" when it analyzes the dvd files. This file is then use to maintain the audio/video in sync during conversion. It takes about 5 minutes to build this file but it's worth it.
That's what I would do, as long as your dvd files are in sync, it should remain in sync during the conversion.
I think It may be because I have been putting VBR, MP3, 320KBS for Audio.. I think I should have been putting CBR Audio or one of the other choices the whole time??? Anyone know if that was it? And if it is the problem is there a way I can change it from VBR to CBR to match the movies video???
You probably answered your own question...
Some software have problems keeping VBR audio in sync. Why use it anyway, when you have an option to use original AC3 track?
