When you download a movie say from zml. Its says it's divx. The file extension then has avi.
1) are divx and avi the same? yes/no

2) can i play divx on ps3? I think yes but have read varying comments.

3) how do i put 3 divx movies onto one disc?
can i have a menu to pick which movie to watch?

I have tried dvd shrink but it refuses to accept my downloaded file.

I appreciate all the help i can get.
cheers

You need to use a program such as dvd flick to convert the files to dvd compliant. Dvd shrink won't work because the files you chose are not dvd files.

You can put 3 divx movies onto one dvd, but the quality will degrade some.....may be more noticable to some, and not to others.

The ps3 plays divx. The reason I downloaded avi/divx files is so i could watch them without having to re-encode.
I have read stuff about just burning a data file that way you can put more movies on a disc in avi form. I want to know how to do that or if indeed that is what i need to do.
cheers

Make a disk and find out. Just write the avi/divx files as data.

The containers are supposed to be almost the same, I have a standalone player
that plays both without issue. The Divx container supports soft subs.
