Photoshop and FFDSHOW WHY?

OK so I have FFDShow revision 2555 dec 30 2008. haven't updated b/c no real issues but for some reason today when I open CS2 it runs multiple instances of FFv in the status bar. I uses process explorer to see what is calling the FFDshow program and it is photoshop and it calls
ffdshow.ax, libavcodel.dll and libmplayer.dll

How to I stop Photoshop CS2 from calling this program it's got 10 instances open currently for the 3 files I am editing.
