Hello all.

I am fairly new to virtualdub and i have a question to do with time frame.

I had a movie but i wanted to reencode it with subtiles for the non english speaking parts of the movie. I am using the subtitler plugin for virtualdub.

It has taken over 24hrs. it is running at .17fps roughly.

Is this normal? This is the first time i have tried to add subtitles to a movie that has already been encoded.

Do you know if the .ssa file is good.
You can load it into the likes of Subtitle Workshop and re-save it (Substation Alpha).

If it was originally a .srt file, then it could be SRT to SSA

I would abort that operation.
Reload the AVI and select the same codec you are using now (don't select any filter).
Save the output to a new file and see how long it takes.
If there is no problem, download the subtitler filter again and replace the current copy in the plugin folder - then retry with the subtiles.

You set a new benchmark for patience.
Consider using AviaddXsubs.
The AVI file doesn't require re-compression and the subs are switched using the remote.
