i wanna cut down the size of some DVDs that i have stored in my copmuter BUT i wanna keep the best possible amount of quality cause when the times comes i will eventually be converting them back to DVD using convertxtodvd to watch in my DVD player & not on my computer. they range from 4GB + so id like to bring them down to like 700/800MB
(i wonder if its possible to just compress these folders without damaging them?) if not then, of these three, AutoGK, Fairuse Wizard & Handbrake, wich is the better choice???
I only use fairuse wizard (full version), the full version lets me output files larger than 700mb (free version limited to a max 700mb).
This program has never produce an audio/sync problem in over 3 years that I used it.
Your input files have to be in a ISO format(won't work with any other type of files). I use the 2-pass mode and the h264 codec and stick with a 900 kps bitrate. I get excellent results everytime.
bitrates and codec you use are very important. I also convert my avi's back to dvd with convertx2dvd and the quality is good enough for me.

there should be no conflict with any video editing programs. I have fairuse/avidmux/convertx2dvd/dr.divx among others and they all work well together.
Everyone here in the forums have different converters they use for different tasks. It depends what your input files are. I use avidemux to convert my mpeg2's (to avi) that I record from my tuner card. Fairuse I only use on dvdrips. I have never found a all-in-one converter that does everything.

im DEFINATLEY check'n out this fairuse wizard! i keep seeing it mentioned so that says alot too.
is the free version good - being that it can only make files as big as 700mb or would you say to be totally satisfied that i have to go with the full version ? thats a pay-for version, correct?

700MB files will be a poor choice. I always keep mine at almost 2GB with full ac3 6 channel audio.
yeah you see thats what i like!
i love to see a range of suggestions or opinions from both sides of the spectrum. my doubt comes from having downloaded some files of both sizes - 700MB or 2GB or less even, and seen some with great quality even in the 700MB range. ????? - you know.....
