Hello,
I was playing an avi file in WMP on Vista, which also included some kind of program that shows up in the status bar once the movie starts.
Now all the files played fine, but I decided to try out the features that program had. Stuff like Flip, subtitle, noise and whatnot, but one of the features was either avisync or avisynth, and ever since i clicked that button, no avi file works.
This is hard to explain, but since no avi file plays, that program doesn't pop up anymore. I don't know what it's called, and i can't find anything on my drive. All i know is the statusbar icon looks like a green circle, or maybe a green spiral.
The folder that the file came in says: (Xvid asd) EnglishV+NapisyPL

That's not really what I meant. Have you installed a "pack",
such as FFDshow, CCCP, K-Lite, etc,etc ?
The reason I'm asking is that "pack" may be responsibe for the icon that appeared in the tray.
If you find it in the start button/programs, see if you can find the
video configuration in there, and you should be able to reverse what you did.
A 2nd option, is to try and use System Restore to revert the
system to as it was before it got screwed up.

I just installed the K-lite pack and it seems to have done it. It plays again, and the icon is back to, which is a green arrow. Program was called DirectVobSub, only now its got less features.
But now everthing works again
