AVCHD Playback Issues

Hi Everyone,

For starters my hardware/software:

P4 HT @ 3.2G
2.5GB DDR 800
Win XP Home
ATI 4350

I just bought a DSC-TX7 which records in 1080i @ 59FPS.
From what Ive gathered it records in H264 and the output file is in '.MTS'
When I go to play any of my AVCHD 1080i files I get horrible interlacing issues and stuttering issues.

My media player is GOM Player, which I really hope to run all of this off of. I have CoreAVC and Haali Media Splitter but I dont really know if this is what I should be using. I dont believe GOM's internal codecs/filters are the best for this type f playback so thats why Ive tried other alternatives.

To make a long story short, Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction on how to make playback smoother and to get rid of the interlacing.

My 2 hunches are:
1. My hardware isnt powerful enough to playback the video well. (I have my doubts about this one because I can play 720P Bluray MKV's)
2. More realistically I think its a codec/media player issue.

Ive tried other players that are made just to play AVCHD but it wasnt encouraging.

I think if anyone can shed some light on how to incorporate CoreAVC with GOM Player that might be a start.

Any ideas?
