avi audio out of sync on standalone player

I just recently bought a standalone dvd player which will play avi, divX and Xvid files. It workds fine with some avi files but with other files the audio is out of sync.
I play the files on my computer with Windows Media Player and the audio is NOT out of sync. So why is it out of sync on my standalone player.

Compare the files with GSpot and see if it's the codec (XviD DivX) or the audio (VBR CBR) that is a common factor.

Would it be that my standalone player would have a certain codec factory installed and if the avi file that I play does not use that same codec it will play out of sync.

I doubt that the files would play out of sync because of the DivX/XviD issue - they are supposed to be interchangeable.
(it's alleged that some players check the file header for an indication that 'DivX' or some variant is listed as the codec - hence the need for 4cc changer software - but this should lead to the file being rejected)

So my question remains why is it that I play the file on my computer and it is not out of sync but that Same file is out on my srtandalone.

Assuming the source AVI audio is VBR (variable bit-rate) and you want to change it to CBR (constant bit-rate).

You can load/drag the file into AviDemux.
Set the Video to 'Copy' and the Format to 'AVI'.
Assuming the source audio is MP3, select 'MP3' under 'Audio' then 'Configure' it as CBR.
Save the new file with a new name including the extension (e.g new.avi)

I tried avi demux but audio is still out but it seems to be closer to being in sync if thats possible.

Here is a sample of one avi that works.(before avidemux)

Now here are sample of them after avi demux.

Maybe you could see the difference between the first one that works and the last two that were demuxed.

The only difference was that in the first two images the working sample had CBR audio and unpacked (video) bitstream the second image showed VBR audio and packed bitstream (PB in green letters underneath the video 'Status').
PB is alleged to cause problems in some standalone players - however your 'after' image showed that the PB was gone (probably AviDemux gave a message that it was unpacking it).

The other thing to try is load the avi into AviDemux and insert a value (plus or negative) into the 'Shift' box on the left side menu under 'Audio'.
If you estimate half a second, insert 500 (+ or -)
You only need select a small clip with the A/B buttons and save to test.

First of all Thank you for taking the time toreply and explain.

Now iI know how to resolve these issues.

Now I have another one that seems more complicated, (keep in mind these are played on a standalone player if it make a difference)
The video starts off fine then gradually falls out of sync and by the end it is totally off.

The problem is that it will not get out of sync unless it is played from the begining. MY girlfriend was watching the movie and when I came in the room I noticed it was off so I looked at the time(49 some minuted in)she said it wasnt off at the start , after she was done I FWD to the same part but it is in sync now.

An AVI file that gradually goes async, cannot be fixed using Avidemux (since the sync time is not consistent, inserting a Shift value won't help).

The AVI file can be loaded into VirtualDub.
Under 'Video' set 'Direct Stream Copy'.
Under 'Video' click 'Frame Rate' > 'Change so video and audio durations match' > 'OK'.
'File' > 'Save as avi.
