Hi all,

I burnt some avi (divx) files onto a dvd to watch in my pioneer htib system (dvd in data format using nero). It will stop playback halfway through the movie. However, the same disc plays back without problems on my standalone LG dvd player. pls help. I prefer to use the htib system as that way i get 5.1 channel sound. thanks.

Some players have issues if the AVI file is larger than a certain size, eg. 1GB or 2GB.
Other things to consider is the compatibility of the media and the burn quality.

Try running CD/DVD speed "disk quality" check .

Put the disk in the drive, open up the tool and turn to the disk quality tab.
The important graph is the lower one, c2 errors. On the mid-right side, "settings"
set the speed to 8x, and start the test.

The tool will read through the entire disk and give a representation of the
errors it found and at what position.

At the lower left you see an interpreted quality score. A better quality
disk/burn will give a score > 90.

You said some of the files are 1.5GB - have files that big ever played all the way through?

If the problem is not related to either the size or a disk quality problem,
you'll have to use something like Mediainfo. Open up a good and non-working
file (after first copying them back to the hard drive). Put it in text or tree view
and compare the differences. Post the output in here if you need further assistance.
