How do I improve the sound on an AVI sile?

i have a couple of videos which i managed to imporve the playback quality with VDub.
now i was wondering if there is anyway of improving the sound quality of these videos?

Download and run Audacity and install the required libraries:Edit > Preferences > Libraries.

Demux the audio from VirtualDub:File > Save WAV.
Or File > Export > Raw Audio
Drag it into Audacity.

There are umpteen guides around for using different effects (like noise removal).
