Playback of video files burned into a DVD

Since I upgraded my system to Windows 7 I cannot create a DVD with Video files burned into it (eg avi, divX, Xvid etc.) that can play on any home DVD player.
I get the message "incompatible disc" from the player.
Need to add that I am using Nero 9 and that when I was on XP I could play these DVDs with no problem.
Any suggestions?

That means a regular DVD player, not Divx capable, right?
Are you using Nero Vision? If yes, are you setting to the proper region code(PAL/NTSC?)

I am talking about DivX capable player(s) (I tried a couple not only one)
I am not talking about DVD video files therefore Nero Vision has nothing to do with it.
I tried both Nero Express (Create a Data DVD) and Windows burning software without any resault.
I repeat that I am talking about video files burned into a DVD, not DVD video.
I also repeat that they used to play allright before I upgraded my system.

Okay, got it...
Try ImgBurn instead....
Did you change the type of discs(DVD+R or DVD-R)? Are you making a one closed session disc?

Can you burn actual video files with ImgBurn?
You see I am not talking about image files.
No I haven't tried DVD-R yet, I am always using DVD+R, however let me remind you that they were playing fine before.
And yes I tried both closed session and not closed. The result is the same.
Anyway I believe there must be something with how the new Windows create DVD Rom, I mean I have to change something in Windows options.
But what?

Yes, you can burn any files with ImgBurn, you can even create Audio CDs. Choose "Write Files/Folders to disc".
ImgBurn will detect the AVi/Divx and will optimize for playback in mpeg-4 compatible players.

Just now I've added an AVI file to a DVD compilation which I had crated with Windows XP and I had left opened session.
It played fine.

That's what I am trying to find out.
Because the disc that played fine was started on Windows XP and closed on Windows 7.
Every DVD Rom I begin and close on Windows 7 ends up as an "incompatible disc"
I'll try ImgBurn, although I don't believe it's gonna work cause as I've already told you I've tried Windows drag and drop and Windows burning and it didn't.

Have you tried Nero Infotool to see if you can see a difference
between a working and non-working disk ?

Not yet because I used to throw the non-working ones.

Don't know if you got an answer yet. Have not had this problem. Don't forget windows DVD maker that come with win 7. It is pretty good and fast.

Windows DVD Maker is for creating Video DVDs.
I am interested in creating Data DVDs with divX files burned into them, that can play on my divX supported home player.
As I said before they used to play fine when I was on XP and Vista.
