Problem with MKV files

For some reason whenever I watch some, not all, MKV files, it'll freeze my computer for maybe 10~20 seconds before it'll start. Afterward I won't have any problems watching an MKV file until I restart my computer.

I never had this problem half a year ago, I scanned my computer for spyware and viruses and none came up, so I don't think that's the problem.

Does anyone know what the problem is?
