So yea, I've been trying to run some .rmvb files on my netbook, I can confirm they aren't corrupted or anything as they run on my regular comp just fine. Needless to say I've already tried Real Alternative and the K-Lite Codec Pack.
Basically here's what has happened.
1. I tried to install Real Alternative and I get this error "Media Player Classic could not render some of the pins in the graph, blah blah blah", so I figured I'd uninstall and reinstall later on, maybe I misclicked one of the options or something.
2. Later on, Real Player is automatically installed by my browser as the file tried to stream itself. :( I uninstalled it, but Real Player has a tendency to leave traces of itself behind. I did delete the folders, and go into the registry to delete the RealNetworks folder.
3. Reinstalled Real Alternative, and STILL getting the error. That being said, I noticed that this time around, some of the options were greyed out. The options were the Real Media Core Components, and also the web browser plugins.
I'm completely confused as Real Alternative has worked flawlessly in the past. People on other forums are pretty useless, constantly saying just install Real Alternative again and it'll work repeatedly. If anyone has a clue what I'm doing wrong, please point it out.
EDIT: The exact error:
Media Player Classic could not render some of the pins in the graph, you may not have the needed codecs or filters installed on the system.
The following pin(s) failed to find a connectable filter:
