Hello AD community,

I need help with a rather silly problem- I have been backing up a lot of my TV dvds (Lost, Sopranos, The Wire, etc.) as .mkv files on my home server (so that it integrates nicely into Media Browser for Windows Media Center).

My desktop which is attached via ethernet to the same router the home server is on has no problem streaming the files. My laptop, however, (wireless n connection) can't seem to stream the files. It can play any .mkv files sitting on it's native hard drive, but can't play the files sitting on the home server.

I honestly have no idea why it would be a problem. All computers are running windows 7 (either home or ultimate), and the laptop can see/copy/read/write to the shared drive where the .mkv files reside. The laptop can also stream *.vob files of dvd's I've put on the shared drive too. Any idea why I can't stream .mkv's? It's driving me nuts!!
