hullo there i hope this is the right room for a wee problem im having with my recorded films etc. Whenever i try to playback any of my discs on my P.C (windows xp sp3)using nero, after 5mins or soa box comes up saying"cannot find file or part of file, playback may be affected"+ i press ok it stops the dvd altogether and thats it all over. I have then tried to play them with windows media player+it just freezes after a few seconds with no explanation. Yet when i play them on a wee portable dvd player i have for the car they seem to work as they should, this is a pain as i have lots of various series that i have recorded to disc but cant watch any of them unless i play them on my wee dvd player(designer vision) I suppose i'm doing or have done something wrong but cant figure it out, any chance one of you guys(or girls can shed some light on this for me?)re.

Any assistance would be appreciated
Mez

I assume this is a burned disk but maybe not. Your PC reader is inferior you ought to find out what is the best burner for the money you can spend. You can post that query on this board. When I bought mine lite-ons were hot. The DVD is marginal you could try cleaning the surface. Good readers can read crappy disks. Bad reader can read good disks. Bad readers can't read bad disks. Both reader and disk have a broad spectrum of good to bad.

Once you get a superior reader/burner in your PC you can make a copy (see the Shrink forum) A good reader/burner for the PC with be better than any other reader you own. My lite-on can read a disk perfectly that my DVD player will not even recognize as a DVD. I run FixVTS after the disk is ripped then use imgburn not Nero to burn the disks and the copy will be better than the original. USE SUPERIOR MEDIA when you do. Again AD is the place to find out what is the best.

Good luck! Not that you need any luck to fix the problem.
