I have Windows 7 x64 and use TMPGEncAuthoring Works to burn my DVD's. I just found out that any AVI encoded with AC-3 for audio results in choppy audio when burned in TMPGEnc and played back.
I have the AC-3 filter installed but I don't know much about configuring it, or if there's something I need to enable. I should mention that without the AC-3 filter installed you get no sound during playback for AC-3 encoded files.
I'm also wondering maybe I should convert the file's audio to mp3 audio using AVIdemux or something. by the way ConvertXtoDVD burns and plays back the same file just fine.
Yes I was just burning an AVI to MPEG in TMPGEnc and all I know is, when recording an AVI file that was encoded with AC-3 audio, if I did not have AC-3 installed, I could not hear the sound when the DVD was played back.
But for some reason in Windows 7, the latest AC-3 filter that I installed seemed to be resulting in choppy audio burns, so what I did after I posted this last night is uninstall that, then I installed the K-Lite CodecPack, but I just enabled AC-3 on that and now the burns come out fine.
I don't know what the difference is between running the full blown AC-3 with all of it's configurations and just installing it from withing the K-Lite Codec Pack but it worked!
