Does anyone know if you can add different language subtitles to an avi file with dvdflick without having to create an srt file to add to the movie? When trying to do this I'm given a message " dvdflick only accepts graphical subtitles , so i take it I have to create the subs and srt file or if not, can someone please explain how to do this or if there's a free program that does?

Do you want to play the movie on your computer or on a DVD player?
Do you have any subtitles?

I don't have the subs . If dvdflick needs the subs I really appreciate someone explaining how to create and add them as simple as possible as I have a very difficult time with some things like this and have been at it for hours trying to do this .

You can only make the subs if you can translate the movie and type them yourself.
Look for some subs on Google. Search for the Name_of_the_movie.srt, or Name_of_the_movie subttles.

For all my AVI or DivX subtitles, I usually go to http://subscene.com/ -- just type in the name of the movie and download it, then extract to the same folder/directory as the movie file.
NOTE: if you want to watch AVI, DivX or MP4 movies with "subtitles" on your DivX certified DVD player or PS3 only.
You can easily add subtitle to any of your AVI, DivX or MP4 file within 2 minutes using AVIAddXSubs without having to re-encode your AVI, DivX or MP4 files. This means that you can turn the subtitle "OFF or ON" via the DVD or PS3 control while watching your movie and it "does not" take any quality off the original file.

Did you play the video and the subtitle file? Are they in sync?
If everything matches, you don't need to do anything, no need to use Aviaddxsubs(you said you want to use the video in DVD Flick). Just load the video, the subs and convert.
Aviaddxsubs is useful if you want to play the AVI on your PS3 or XBOX?, on a certified DIVX DVD player all you need to haave is the video and sub file in the same directory , with the same name and will play.
Just load the video and the subs in DVD Flick and convert...

If you'd read my reply carefully then you would have comprehend what I was trying to say. All I'm saying is that http://subscene.com/ has a lot of AVI and DivX subtitles and that's where I got my subtitles from.
I mentioned AVIAddXSubs only if you have a DivX certified DVD player or PS3, then you can simply add the subtitle to your AVI or DivX file within 2 minutes without losing quality. You can even turn the subtitle "OFF" or "ON" via the dvd player or PS3 control.
cyprusrom is right if you want to permanently add/code your subtitle into your AVI (DivX) file and "convert" into DVD, then you'll need to use DVDFlick the handle the job.

Your co-worker has no clue what he's talking about,or he hates you... Nero 9 is the worse "virus" you could install on your computer(as you say, a monster that does nothing but waste resources. You can do your problem with free tools.

As alkohol stated,It is a great program if you want to play the file as AVI.
This link won't open in windows. Is there a way to explain how the program works because I have a SRT file next to my AVI file in the same folder. After I extract all files from the AVIADDXSUBS program I see a bunch of icons and how do I apply these to add the subs? One of the icons looks like a movie projector that I open click on " browse for the file I want , then " start, and a receive a failed warning .

You don't need to use AviaddxSubbs to put your movie to DVD, just load it in DVD Flick.
What do you mean that link won't open? It opens in FF and IE.

I think both "cyprusrom and I" have been giving you enough information here on this thread if you've read them carefully. Now to make a long story short.
<><><><> To convert AVI file into DVD & add .SRT subtitle <><><><>
** use DVD Flick - this converts AVI to DVD and add SRT subtitle. This is one of the most easiest program to use, it definitely does a decent job. I've tested and convert some AVI files to DVD and adding English subtitle and its quality is decent considering that I watched it on my 37" VIZIO lcd full 1080p HDTV.
NOTE: under "Project Settings, Video" I recommend using "Best" for "Encoding Profile" to achieve the best quality.
<><><> To add subtitle into AVI, DivX movie without converting to DVD <><><>
** use AVIADDXSUBS - this programs will add subtitle to your AVI, DivX file(movie) without having to re-encode within 2 minutes, meaning you'll have the same quality as the original AVI, DivX file. With this you can watch the movie on any DivX certified DVD Player or PS3.
Good luck on your journey.

Ok, just one more question before using DVDFLICK. I believe I may have the subs already because when I click on the folders my AVI file is in to the left and is a small blurry looking icon of windows media player that says " subtitle file , and to the right , the AVI file , so does this sound like I already have what I need even though it doesnt say " SRT file?
