I am totally new to this, so please forgive me if I got no idea what I am talking about.
Having that said, here's my problem/question:
I have bought a set of DVDs (Twin Peaks), and I want to back it up.
The problem is that the original DVDs are something like 7-8G, which exceeds my 4.x discs.
The point is, that there's a lot of things I do not need, such as Deutsch, Italian, and Spanish audio (I only speak English as the second language...)
There's also a lot of subtitles in various languages, I do not need.
So I thought there is a lot I can take off and hopefully make this suit my 4.x G disc.
So, I've explored the DVD as I thought I could find the audio files but I couldn't. The AUDIO_TS directory was empty, and the VIDEO_TS directory holds IFO, BUP, and VOB files, although I got no idea what each means.
Anyway, just for as the first step, I tried copy the files to the Hard Disk. I obviously couldn't. So I read a little about it, and found I should use DVD Decrypter to do it. And so I did.
So now I got the IFOs, BUPs, and VOBs on my HD, and the question is:
How do I remove the audios from the VOBs? Again, I read a little about it, and it says I should demuux (???) it to video and audio files and then combine it again to one VOB. But I do not want to mess with it. I do not want to convert formats back and forth, among being lazy, because I do not want to loose quality in the process. I just want the same file structure as it is, but simply take out the useless (from my perspective) parts.
Is there some software for a rookie such myself that takes a VOB file as an input, graphically display the parts it holds (video, audios, subtitles, ...), let the user check what the user wants, and then prodecues a VOB file with the user's selection as the output?
Or if there is none, where can I find a "for dummies" manual that explain how I can edit this VOB file.
And actually, regardless of my problem, is there a good site where I can start and learn "all about DVDs and their file formats"?...
