best dvd-rom and dvd-rw burner with bitsetting?

When I built my new computer in Jan. 2010 I installed a Liteon iHDS118 rom and a Samsung SH-S223 burner after reading great reviews about the Samsung. When I realized the Samsung doesn't support bitsetting, I switched it out for my older Liteon iHAS220. I used Booktype 135 to set the booktype of my Verbatim dvd+r's to dvd-rom. The problem is that about 90% of my recent burns aren't even recognized by my rom or burner so I can't even check them with DVDInfo Pro. I didnlt realize that I had a bunch of coasters because I got complacent and didn't try any of them. When I put them into my stand alone dvd player, they play for awile and then freeze. After about 2 or 3 minutes they will start playing again sometimes. It usually happens in the last half of the playback. They don't pixelate like bad burns did 3 or 4 years ago. Shoot, I thought AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 had put an end to coasters. And yes, I install all the updates. When I put one of the bad burns in the rom, I hear it rev up and slow down over and over. I went into Device Manager and uninstalled both drives and restarted. Still the same thing. I'm ready to just buy 2 new drives. What are the latest best drives that support booktyping? Thanks!
