If "not-quite-legal" DVD copying is your concern, yes.
To get around this, you can use the tin foil method(I know, a rather "primitive" method,when a software workaround is available, but is inexpensive and efficient).

Simply for educational purposes, do you have a link to the process? Also what software work arounds are there? Does Afterdawn have a guide for the software? Again, strictly for informational purposes only.

No, there is no guide on AD. I never used the software way, the tin foil is simpler/quicker, plus I am not good at all with Linux (what operating system do you have on your machine? From what I recall, it only worked on Linux; I'll look around see if I find again the link to the "stuff".
@ddp,
I know, people nowadays have such a false sense of security...you can never be too careful when dealing with "The Man". They(the ones that work for "The Man") are everywhere, can't do anything without them knowing.

:),haha, no, that would be too easy , that's a movie stereotype:)
But I am sure they might be looking like a nonchalant news papers seller, or some "cable guy" with a van with no windows parked across the street! Just look for the 4ft long antennae sticking out like an eye sore!!!

I don't know about pissed off relatives look-a-like,never had relatives with a grudge!
Most likely though, "The Man" will try to display as less emotion as possible, after all, they're nothing but heartless ba$ta'ds, making ordinary people's lives miserable...

I see, some of those CDs/DVDs maybe got in the hands of some evil-thinking-doing relative...That's too bad, however, nothing some thin aluminum won't fix in the future!

You need a good microscope to find the imprinted metadata file on the disk, this contains the serial number of your chip, and the serial number of the copied DVD. Netflix and Blockbuster have each rental with a digital fingerprint or watermark to trace the copied disk. They find a copied rental disk, extract the watermark, pull the rental history from the outlet, then compare the rental history with the registered serial number from the processor chip, and voila!, they know who made the copy. Hello the Man, goodbye freedom. Learn the foil technique Ironrod60. Bubba your new cellmate likes a lot of foreplay by the way.

Try this:
If the "Tin Foil Method" do not work. Then try to use the "Duct-Tape Method"
Hope this may help.
Good luck !
