Try: RipIt4me process

1-Click Mode > Movie Only > Next

it's a very simple Movie to back up...like Saw 6.

Good luck !

Thanks so far for the suggestions. Anydvd is not an option right now, not in the budget. Tried ripit4me but program could not handle the dvd. kept crashing (might be too old of a program). Still open for ideas.

Thanks again. I already have dvdfab HD. It did finally load on it after about a few hours and of course can only do Movie only. Title 1 if anyone is interested. Does anyone know why that lately these movies are coming out with these super large files? Is this the new encyption mode?

Yes the DVD's with larger VIDEO_TS Size under explore or open are a newer form of copy protection I don't know what it is called but if your DVD Contains a larger VIDEO_TS folder size then the DVD under my computer then you will need to use DVDFab Decrypter. I Was having trouble with ripping The Michael Jackson's This is It DVD in a way where I could encode it without error using DVD Shrink or Nero Recode and was able to get a successful workable rip using Ripit4Me (note it did take my Pentium D 3.4GHZ Processor about 8 hours to rip it) During the one click mode riping slowed at 90% and after ripping I recieved a minor error which caused me to have to run the DVD Files
through FixVTS Manualy. You have to run the files through FixVTS in order for the DVD To be workable for an encoding. Go to www.videohelp.com to get Ripit4Me. I Legaly own the obove DVD and used the method described to backup my copy and retain its mint condition you should only backup if you own the original otherwise it is elegal.

I've actually had mixed results, i finally received the R1 dvd after ordering it a few weeks back. I have a perfect 1:1 copy with everything in tact using a dual layer disc. I have been using DVDFab 5.1 (i know it's outdated, but it hasn't failed me yet) to put dvds on to the hdd.

What i've had trouble with is taking just the movie - no extras or menu items, and copying it on a single layer disc (it can be done with no compression/quality loss, as the film itself is under 4gb). The recorded dvd, stops 2 seconds after pressing play - to progress you have to use the fast forward button or the skip to next scene button.

It reminds me of the situation some years ago with the first Transformers movie, although the problem was reversed (standard dvd-r worked with no problems, the dual layer recording encountered several issues - partly caused by outdated dvd ripping software). The dvd would play up due to Paramount's sneaky copy protection method (placing a previously unknown copy protection check in the encoding that "reacted" when the Paramount logo animation occured at the beginning of the movie).

The problem for the Transformers dvd wound up being solved by doing some "editing" of select files... i believe these forums was one of the first places that the solution was posted.

----

I'll be interested to see if there is similar encoding in the R4 release of This is It. Couldn't believe the release was "delayed" - the synced the cinema release worldwide, but couldn't manage it for the dvd/blu-ray. I couldn't wait until march, hence why i ordered the R1 version online :).
