I would like to make a backup copy of a protected DVD. The original DVD includes a warning that says "Any attempt to copy this DVD will result in damage to the DVD, the recorder, or both."

Is this claim legit? Can I damage my original DVD if I try to copy it?

You won't ruin the disc, it's the same as playing it in a DVD player. It's just a scare tactic.

You can back it up with DVD Shrink.

If DVD Shrink can't back it up, try DVD-Rebuilder or DVDFab.

Thanks for the info! That is what I thought, but I wanted to be sure. And thanks for the heads-up on DVD Shrink....
