Dual layer driving me crazy

I've tried over a dozen times and I cannot get a dual layered data disc that I burn to work properly. I've downloaded Xvid files of all the episodes of the 6 seasons of Hell's Kitchen. I want to simply burn them onto dual layered discs so I can play them on Xbox 360 as mixed media discs, but it never works. I've burned probably 100 or so single layer DVDRs as data discs and have played them in my 360 with no problems. But if I try doing the same with a dual layered disc it never works. I've tossed over a dozen of them in the trash so far. What could the problem be? I've tried doing it with Nero 2009 and with Windows at 4X write speed which is the same speed I do the single layered discs at. Do I have to do something with the layer break? Would turning down the write speed matter? I'm at a loss. If it's relevant the brand of these dual layered discs is something called Windata which I admit sounds cheap. But since all I want to do is make data discs shouldn't they be fine? They've gotta' be good for something.

It wasn't a failed burn necessarily. Everything went through the paces fine and the disc ejected at the end with no error messages like everything was OK. But the discs never work in 360 and they only partially work on my PC (Will play but lock up in some areas.).
