DVD-R is all of sudden is not writable

Hi,

I have been able to write to DVD-R media without problem for months. However, I just noticed that when I tried to burn a data DVD, it all of sudden starts to say "this disc is not writable." I am using Windows 7 with Nero 8.3.2 and my DVD is Optiarc DVD RW AD-7585H. Luckily, DVD+R seems to be writing fine, but I am really stumped by this problem.

Any suggestion to troubleshoot this problem would be greatly appreciated and I apologize if this problem has been solved in the past, but I haven't been able to find the solution via search.

You could check for a firmware update for the burner - is it a DEll or HP machine - try their support sites.
