I have been backing up movies successfully for quite some time. However, every once in a while, when I put a dvd in the drive to begin the back up process, my computer can't read the disc. The disc is brand new, no scratches, blemishes, etc.
I currently use Dvd Shrink 3.2 and any dvd. I also have clonedvd, but only use that as a back up.
When i try to open the disc in Shrink, the error I get is:
"Dvd Shrink has encountered an error and cannot continue. No disc is in the drive . The parameter is incorrect."
The error in clonedve is:
"DVD RW (E:) is currently in use. Save any open files on this disc and then close the files or programs using the files before ejecting the disc."
Also, I can play this movie on a regular dvd player, but not on any program on my computer.
There doesn't appear to be any open processes that would have a handle on the dvd drive. When I eject this disc and put in another disc, my computer doesn't have a problem reading/backing it up.
I have updated my clonedvd and any dvd in the last 12 hours.
thanks...however that thread deals with the computer not being able to recognize the dvd drive. that is not the case here. On all other occasions, my computer has no trouble recognizing the drive and the disc in it. Even with this trouble disc, it still recognizes the drive, it just doesn't want to read the disc.
Even stranger, when I go to My Computer, the title of the disc is there, but it can't be watched/scanned for backup.
