I have backed up hundreds of my dvd's with dvdfab express with little to no problem. I started using DVDFab 5 and on the initial rip I always get a screen with the message "send us your ifo files" with some fill in blanks. If I rip with express I can select the video ts folder with DVDFab 5 to convert to xvid but can start with my original dvd. Do I have the wrong idea about this software?

How about you move to DVDFab 6? Obviously DVDFab 5 cannot handle the encryption, you're using software that's been put asleep for ages...

Thank you for the reply. I suppose I could upgrade. I realize that Fab 5 isn't the newest release, but neither is DVDFab express and I use it for everything. Old, new, doesn't matter. I have maybe 7 movies that it couldn't rip. I have never been able to get Fab 5 to rip a dvd. Not older ones or newer ones. I used to go dvd express to hard drive then dvd shrink back to 4.7 disc. Worked great. Now I make everything xvid with mp3 sound in .avi file for use with my WDTV box. I got DVDFab 5 with the dvd to mobile option because I was under the impression that it would do it all in one shot. I can't get it to read a single disc, only use it to convert to avi from the video ts folder that dvd express creates.

EDIT! I went to the dvdfab website, do I read it right when it says that if I download version 6.x that it will retain the registration from my version 5.x?

Ok. I did some more work. We have two user accounts on our pc at home, admin and family. We only use the family on a day to day basis so that the kids don't accidentally change anything too important. If I run dvdfab 5 as admin then everything runs straight through with no problem. From the disc directly to an avi in one shot. Is there a way to run it in full capacity from the limited account? My only remaining question, if I download version 6.x will it retain my mobile option? Right now in the about box for 5.x it says dvd enable and expiration never and the same for mobile on a line right under it.

email them your question or look for FAQ at their site. I believe you are covered but find out first. When I went to 6 from 5 my paid part transferred.

I found on the FAQ or the site it says that it will retain it. The download says it is the "CSS" version". That is the only one that I see, is that what I'm after?

I'm not sure.I don't use Fab all that much. So wait til someone more knowledgeable comes along. It seems I had both 5 and 6 at same time.
