Whenever i checkout DVD movies from my local Library, my DVD/RW Drive cannot read their discs. The thing different about their discs compared to normal ones, are the labels on it. It has the small plastic cover with 2 bar strips. Is there a DVD/RW drive that can read these?

(sorry didnt get response from other thread)

If the labels are small, circular labels that cover only the area immediately around the centering hole, that should be OK. If the labels spread deeply into the areas where the data information is stored, the discs have been damaged by the labels. Library DVDs often have three problems: 1) they never check or clean discs that come back from users (who themselves don't know or care how to handle a disc--I've had to clean multiple library discs to get them to work); 2) they label the discs with large labels that creep over time and cause tilt problems on the disc; 3) they apply labels on one part of the disc that causes imbalances.

If the labels are small, the liklihood is that the discs are scratched or dirty. Cleaning them with eyeglass cleaner, wiping outward from the centering hole, may get them to work. You can also inform the library that their discs don't work and that they need to take better care in learning about them and treating them.

Hmmm...i have to wonder are you watching these discs on your pc...or attempting to copy discs that don't belong to you?
