What I'm burning is an anime series with menus intact from .ISO files. Each disc has 3 episodes that you can select from the menus. I'm using ImgBurn to burn it, and playing it back on my PS3. I've tried it so far using Verbatim DVD+RW discs, Memorex DVD+R discs, and Verbatim DVD+RW DL discs, and I've tried burning it as a "book type" of DVD+R and also DVD-ROM.

For the most part, it plays fine on the PS3, but here's the issue: episodes other than the first episode on each disc lock up when they hit the opening credits, and also when they finish the opening credits and try to start up the next chapter. I can make it resume by hitting "chapter forward," but I'd like to figure out how to burn it so that it doesn't have this issue. The first episode on each disc does NOT have this issue, only subsequent episode on each disc. I don't think there's an issue with the files I'm burning from, so I'm thinking it's an issue either with the media I'm using or the settings I'm using to burn these discs. Oh also - it doesn't lockup when I play it back using VLC media player on my computer, so it does appear to be something do with how the PS3 is handling these discs (though the PS3 is usually good with a broad range of formats, so I wonder what I'm doing wrong).

The file sizes are about 4.6 gb, which I thought was too big for a single layer, which is why I tried it with DL discs as well (which burned fine too, but had the same issue on playback) - and when I do use double-layer discs, ImgBurn tells me that "this doesn't require a DL, a single-layer disc will be fine."

Would anyone being able to suggest a solution to this? Thanks very much!

If you're not, try burning at half the rated speed of the media.

Yeah, I've been burning at slow speed.

What I've been told from another source is that it's a PS3 issue, with it not being able to handle "relinked cells." New firmware please!

I'm kinda bummed actually, I was thinking the PS3 would be my all-purpose machine for dvd/br but apparently I'll need a normal dvd player for stuff such as this.

Nah, but...I'm kinda just fixated on getting it to work as a DVD. I don't think that's going to happen though, based on what I'm reading about how the PS3 handles non-commercial regular dvd's. Something about it being a 1st-generation blu-ray player.

Have you tried lowering the bit rate? lower qaulity should run better.
