Unless the post was changed, rtm27 said the first step was using DVDFab to rip.
You tried to use DVDShrink to rip. Shrink doesnt break newer copyright protections, and is only any good as a ripper with AnyDVD running behind it. RTM gave you proper instructions. Not all movies need the step "Process with vobblanker / fixvts" but some do so its good to get in the habit of using it.
COPY PROTECTIONS.. ffs people.. copyright has NOTHING to do with copy proofing whatsoever !!!! copyright free things can be protected and other things with copyright on them can be wide open.. a film you get from a torrent STILL has copyright attached, which is why it's (allegedly) illegal as COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.. it is as much copyright infringement to make a copy of a copy as of an original..
use the proper terms instead of reinforcing this idiocy!!!
i don't know what the proper term to use is(obviously). The specific movie i was trying to back up is Crank which is a dvd i brought from Big W.
@deadrum 33 I wasn't trying to argue with his instructions. i just dont feel the need to have 2 or 3 different programs when i can do the whole thing with dvdfab.

Most of us use multiple programs to try and get the best out of our back-ups. Yes DVDFab can do it all by itself, but on higher compressions, the difference can be noticed by some, and also DVDFab is also known in the past for not giving the cleanest of rips. The old saying "In the eye of the beholder" comes into play here. If you feel using DVDFab is all you need, than by all means use it. The list I provided is a list that has been posted throughout the forums here, as a tried a true method of making back-ups.
copyright - a legal statement saying xxxxx belongs to and is property of xxxx and xxxx alone to sell or distribute.
copy protection - something which makes it hard to copy something.. see "broken by design"
no "copy protection removal" tools remove copyright.. IF they did then downloading anything and everything from the internet or off your library, bought, or rental media and selling it to people on the street would be 100% legal.
sharing - giving something to somebody for nothing
piracy - selling "stolen" or "shared" copyrighted material, or stealing that which belongs to others by force of violence or otherwise on the high seas.

I don't think you were arguing, you probably just didn't care to read and wanted to do it your own way. Live and learn. Riddle me this....If you want to do the whole thing with dvdfab why make this statement?

I could care less what steps you take to complete the job, but you mention DVDShrink not working and I told you exactly why. Operator error, not the fault of the program.
