The discs that I am using worked fine 2 months ago. I haven't burned anything since then,....so it is strange that they worked then but do not work now. Here is another burn i tried using Verbatims.

W 17:38:47 Optimum Power Calibration Failed! - Reason: Power Calibration Area Error
standard verb identifier.. power calibration error is usually the drive has failed. Sometimes it's junk disks, but if it does it on everything you put in then the drive is a gonner.. Lite-On are a brand of burner I won't touch.. some people love them but I have found them to be unreliable and prone to early failure... usually power calibration (failed dvd burning part) or focus servo errors.
Thanks for the info. I guess I probably need to look for a new drive. I would like to get one capable of writing dvds and xbox 360 games. Do I need Dual layer burning capabilities for this? Any suggestions would be greatly valued.
Pioneer 112d and higher.. that's what the smart money uses for 360 disks.
Sometimes stripping the laser right down and cleaning all the opticals carefully gets a few more months out of a drive which seems to have completely failed.. but it is usually only a temp fix and burns will be poor.. not what you need for 360 burns.
