Most of the time when I back up a dual layer dvd to my blank playo dl dvd I get a failed burn even at 1x, and when it is successful most of the time they dont play on any of my dvd players. And what they do play some of the episodes skip and freeze.

What am I doing wrong?

It's generally accepted that Verbatim is the choice for consistently reliable media and the + version is required to get an accurate layer break for commercial DVD backups.
The argument for ImgBurn is that it offers the best available burning program - either free or commercial.

How are you trying to rip these commercial disks? I don't see any mention of any program being used which is going to remove the encryption and various other copyproofing methods.
