I've been burning with a sonydvd+r rw discs. using dvd shrink and nero combination. We use 2 cyberhome dvd players the 30.00 type i believe. When i put it in one player it doesn't play at all and in the second one it will play but then it will skip and freeze. I burnt movies a along time and not sure what the problem is with this. Could it possibly be the player, discs or the combo i've been using. Thanks in advance
The problem could be any one of the three or combinations of all of them. DVD+RW media are tricky in a number of ways: like most rewritable optical discs, they should ideally be recorded/erased/rerecorded on the same drive in order to preserve identical tracking and focus points; the have lower reflectivity than dye-based discs, and that can cause problems; their ranges of recording speeds are much more limited than those for dye-based discs (1-4X, 4X-8X, and so forth versus 1-16X for dye-based discs).
The Cyberhome players ought to be able to read the discs if they are able to read double layer DVDs because the reflectivity of the inner DL layer is lower than that of a DVD+/-RW disc. Try a full erasure of one of the discs on the drive that recorded it, then record it again just as you would for a DVD+R disc but at a lower speed. The Nero software will provide the proper video format during the recording session. If you are not successful in playing the discs on the Cyberhome players but the discs play on the recording drive, then the problem is more likely with the DVD players. If the recording drive also has difficulty playing the recorded discs, there may be an incompatibility with the discs and your drive that prevents good recordings. In that case, you may have to try a different drive, or different DVD+RW discs, or switch to DVD+/-R dye-based discs.
