Ok, this is probably a silly question, but being totally useless when it comes to modern technology, I'm lost!

I'm wanting to make my desktop computer wireless for it's internet access.

Here's my problem!

Im with virgin for my broadband, so I have my access point where the cable comes into the house. The cable is then split, 1 for tv, 1 for internet. The cable for the internet then runs to the modem, connected to the computer.

I want to move the desktop to another room. It's the only computer in the house.

Is there a way I can do it without redirecting the cable? Is it not possible because it's the only computer in the house?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for the info guys, very helpful.

Going by what you say, do I have to get a linksys router if I go for the linksys wireless card? Or can I 'mix and match'? Or does it have to be the same company?

try to get the same signal series as in "g" or "n" with "n" being the best signal range.

Thanks for all the pointers and info guys, that's me up and running, finally!

Modem and Router downstairs in the living room and the only pc in the house up in the office, without the big unsightly cable!

Many thanks!
