Partly out of curiosity and partly for advice, is there a quality, performance or any other kind of difference between coiled and straight cables? I'm shopping around for a 3.5mm extension cable for my headphones. Is there a particular purpose that a coiled cable serves? In my experience, the coiling makes for a heavier load hanging from the jack, and when it begins to stretch it's more likely (compared to a straight cable) to either unplug or pull a light-weight audio device off the surface it's sitting on.
