Having trouble opening a gif file that someone sent me in an email. Tried a couple different things but nothing opened it.

Unless it is an animated GIF, GIMP should open and edit it just fine. No need to buy Photoshop...most of the people who one photoshop could do everything they do using gimp.

Have you installed any picture viewer? I use Windows picture and fax viewer. It's ok for me to view gif or animated gif.

I would use a tin opener.. something Sainsburys in Oldham doesn't sell ;)

has anybody else seen this site? .. very useful if you just want to tweak one. http://www.gifworks.com/

Personally I use imagemagick (have to have it as part of the ghostscript things for my printer) plenty of in depth info and guides to editing and making animated images here.
